Scholarship Initiative

Since 2017, Timur Tillyaev and Lola Tillyaeva (Till) have supported more than 30 talented Uzbek students to undertake Master’s degrees at top universities in Europe. Alumni have gained degrees in various subjects including architecture, engineering, renewable energy and fine arts, from some of the most prestigious universities in Germany, Italy, France, Poland and the UK.

All scholarships are based on merit and there is a rigorous application process with tests and interviews. This is to ensure both academic excellence and to prepare students for the cultural and emotional challenges of studying in a new country.

The selected students receive full financial support for their studies which covers tuition fees as well as living costs, meaning students from underprivileged backgrounds can pursue the best possible higher education.

For Timur, this is a project close to his own heart and experience: “As someone who has benefited from a high school study abroad programme in the US, I know how valuable international education can be in broadening opportunities and horizons. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be able to learn from different cultures and to recognise humanity’s shared values. I’m humbled and grateful to now be in a position to help others enjoy this rewarding experience.”

Timur and Lola also fund a number of programmes, both in Uzbekistan and abroad, which are aimed at promoting Uzbekistan’s historical, cultural and literary heritage.
